This was the first unannounced inspection of a healthcare facility in Fife since changes made to the inspection system during the COVID-19 pandemic. Wards 1 and 2 at Glenrothes Hospital were assessed both on the safety and cleanliness of the environment, and the way in which older people are cared for in hospital.
The report noted good compliance with infection control precautions, and a very good standard of hospital cleaning was observed. It was also noted that patients were treated with dignity and respect and their health and wellbeing was supported and safeguarded during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The report noted five areas where action is required. An action plan has been developed to address these issues quickly, with the majority of the actions already completed.
