NHS Fife's Chief Executive, Carol Potter, was joined this week by local Armed Forces and Veterans Champion, Mairi McKinley, to receive a renewal of the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) Silver Award.
Launched in 2014, the Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) encourages employers to support defence and inspire others to do the same. NHS Fife’s Silver Award is our second and recognises flexibility around the training commitments of reservists and the support we provide to instructors, veterans, military spouses and partners.
Reservists are a reserve military force, who can be called upon to support defence efforts, but have careers outside the armed forces. Carol, who was presented with the award by Ministry of Defence Employer Engagement Director, Ray Watts, said: “It is a great privilege to receive this recognition from the Ministry of Defence. NHS Fife has a rich history of working together with our colleagues in the armed forces and we are proud signatories of the Armed Forces Covenant. Our armed Forces and Veterans Champion, Mairi McKinley, also works to develop policies and practices that continue to encourage collaborative working between NHS Fife and our armed forces."
