Referral routes
Community referrals
Community Referrals to the dietetic department are made via SCI-Gateway, from a consultant, GP, other Health Care Professionals and occasionally a self referral by the patient. Once the referral is received, if appropriate, a letter is sent to the person referred, parent, carer or next of kin asking them to make an appointment at an appropriate clinic/ward area. People referred then have one month in which to book their first appointment.
Acute (hospital inpatient) referrals
Acute (hospital inpatient) referrals are managed via the acute hospital services. All requests for assistance will be triaged and may lead to signposting to other services, telephone or video consultations, or face to face appointments.
Location
