Managing your respiratory disease as you near the end of your life can be very difficult for both patient and family. The community respiratory team has a vast knowledge in both the management of difficult symptoms and knowing how to help with this in the community. We use a way of helping you and your family by being able to get other services when needed and also by offering support. We offer a bridge between hospital care and primary care being able to discuss your condition with a consultant or specialist. We also work very closely with the specialist palliative care team. Our aim is to care for you and your family as you would wish.
Referral routes
You or a member of your family can refer directly to our service by calling our advice line 07970 434059 between the hours of 9.00am-5.00pm or by emailing: fife.communityrespiratoryservice3@nhs.scot or by asking your GP or consultant to refer to us through a single point of access line (SPOA).
Location
We aim to contact you within 5 working days of a referral and to visit within 10 days. If you, (or your relative) need to be seen quicker, just let us know and we’ll do our best to accommodate.
Community respiratory team
We’re a small team that covers the Fife area. Even if your hospital consultant is not in Fife, as long as you are registered with a Fife GP we can see you. We’re currently open Monday to Friday from 9am-5pm.
What we do
We provide a support for you and your family with a telephone number you can call if you are ever worried. If we don’t know the answer to your question we will find someone who does. We try to reduce some of your worries with that support and we will help you manage and prepare for the difficult times that you are having. This is done in lots of ways from giving you information to arranging help for your daily tasks to making sure that your symptoms are managed in the best way we can.
