The district nursing service provides comprehensive, general health services for adults and elderly people in their home or community setting across the whole of Fife. The service provides a wide range of specialist nursing assessment including palliative and end of life care to develop comprehensive patient centered care plans of nursing care in conjunction with patient’s families and carers. The district nursing teams work with a wide multi-professional group to deliver a high standard of nursing care. The service can include intervention from specialist areas such as Palliative outreach team, Palliative care team and Marie Curie

The district nursing service takes referrals from professionals as well as from patients and families direct.
You care team
The district nursing teams are aligned to every Medical Practice in Fife. Within each team there are registered nurses who are trained to deliver palliative and end of life care. Contacting the correct team is done by calling your medical practice and asking for the district nurses. The district nursing team aligned to your medical practice is available Monday – Friday 8.30am-5.00pm hours. Out with these times and including public holidays the service still operates but is contactable through NHS Fife telephone 111.
