The acute hospital pharmacy team includes pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, pharmacy support workers and purchasing officers and is responsible for buying, storing and supplying medicines to patients, wards and clinics throughout NHS Fife.
The team works closely with other healthcare professionals, providing expert advice on medicines and ensuring they are used safely and effectively.
In some cases, your medicines will be prescribed by a pharmacist and you may also see a pharmacy technician who will discuss your medicines with you. You can ask any member of the pharmacy team for help taking your medicines.
In NHS Fife, the acute hospital pharmacy service is delivered across the Victoria and Queen Margaret Hospital sites and consists of:
• Aseptic services
• Clinical pharmacy including cancer
• Clinical trials
• Dispensing services
• Purchasing and distribution of medicines (including homecare)
