Before surgery
There is a growing body of evidence to support the claim that we recover more quickly if we are in the best health we can be prior to surgery. You can read about getting fit for your operation on our prehabilitation page and about other ways you can prepare such as by stopping smoking and cutting down on alcohol on our preparing for surgery pages.
After surgery
Once you’ve had your surgery, you’ll stay in the National Treatment Centre if needed where your recovery will be monitored overnight by the clinical team. They will organise physiotherapy appointments for you if you need to see an ANP physiotherapist and will provide you with wound care advice and leaflets.
Single point of contact hub
Prior to discharge you’ll receive a contact card with the number of the Single point of contact phone number to call should you have any queries of concerns on your return home.
