There is a low risk of catching Monkeypox in Fife.
Anyone can get Monkeypox. Most cases to date in the UK have been among gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men (GBMSM). More information on symptoms and treatment is available at:

Vaccination
Vaccination is becoming available to people at high risk of contracting the virus, mainly gay, bisexual people and other men who have sex with men. Small numbers of vaccines for use as pre exposure prophylaxis have been delivered to Fife and the first vaccines were administered on 27th July 2022. Who will get the vaccine and how?
Sexual Health Fife clinicians are assessing the risks among its patient group. People who have the highest risk factors will be invited to attend a vaccination clinic in the coming weeks. Other GBSM and most other LGBTQ and straight people currently have a low chance of caching monkeypox.
GBMSM, or any other person who thinks they are at high risk of contracting Monkeypox can ask for a nurse call back by phoning 01592 647979 between 9am – 12pm and again from 2pm-4:30pm (Mon-Fri). A member of staff will attempt to respond within 48hours.

Post-exposure vaccination
If you think you require vaccination having been exposed to a confirmed case you should speak to the NHS Fife Public Health team who can be contacted via the NHS Fife switchboard (01592 643355).
