The Department of Spiritual Care seeks to help individuals find HOPE, MEANING and PURPOSE in the midst of illness or uncertainty; affirming that tears and laughter, pain and joy are all part of normal human experience - offering support to people of all faiths and those who hold no particular faith.

Healthcare Chaplains are appointed by NHS Fife as part of the Healthcare Team to provide spiritual care in a sensitive, non-judgemental and confidential manner, working alongside patients, carers and staff to ensure that people remain at the centre of health and wellbeing, supporting:

  • Spiritual Care
  • Faith and Belief
  • Bereavement Care
  • Listening Services
  • Staff Wellbeing and support

Some hospitals have a multi-faith sanctuary or quiet room to provide an area of rest and peacefulness in the midst of a busy hospital. If a sanctuary or quiet room is not available the Chaplain can arrange a quiet space for you. Sacred texts and devotional literature can be made available on request.

Spiritual and Pastoral support is available at any time from Chaplains in all NHS Fife hospitals. If you would like to see a Healthcare Chaplain, please speak to the ward staff who can arrange this for you. Alternatively you can contact the Department direct by telephone. Healthcare Chaplains can also help you to contact your own minister, priest or faith community.
